Tomorrow I'm going out to try to find a bakery that will take me as an apprentice. I expect to come back disappointed and empty handed, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't try.

Alabama Atheists and Agnostics Chalking Erased

Yep. I didn't help with the original chalkings because I didn't know there was even such a group on campus. But I promptly joined the Facebook group and I'm going to the meeting this Sunday to help with the new chalkings. The plan is to hit every major spot on campus.

I wasn't really offended by the fact that the school erased some of the chalkings... they technically weren't supposed to write there. But it's never been a problem for any other group. They never erase their stuff, which is why AAA thought it was ok to draw there in the first place. I do have a problem (a BIG BIG problem) with our students acting the way they did. Though I do suppose it's a blessing in disguise. I'd never have heard of the group if it weren't for all this controversy since I rarely head over to the Ferg unless I have to.

This made me pretty pissy and sad yesterday. I've seen lots of stuff I didn't agree with written on the sidewalk. But I've never erased anything! It's rude. Of course I was lamenting the fact that there are probably 20 Christian and religious organizations on campus and none for the non-religious (now I know there is!), but I've never defaced their stuff. :/ DUDES, even the Pagan group doesn't get their stuff erased!

Also, if shit starts to get real on campus and we get on the news, you can tell your friends you heard about it first.

I don't even care about Heroes anymore, but we're having Heroes parties every Monday at a friend's house unless we really just can't stand to watch it anymore. It's the Sylar and Claire show, now with more plot holes!

I didn't think my cunning plan all the way through. I turned the camera sideways for a vertical video and LO AND BEHOLD, a sideways video. I'm a genius, derpderp!

Do you like your soups chunky or smooth?

View Answers

Chunky with thin broth
1 (14.3%)

Smooth-ish with a few chunks of stuff
4 (57.1%)

Completely pureed
2 (28.6%)

I like mine completely smooth, like butternut bisque. I don't like chewing my soup. Too lazy. Jon likes giant chunks o' stuff in his soup, like manly potato soup. I'm meeting us both halfway tonight with lentil soup with small bits of butternut in it.

I've made a vow to make more soups (and more than butternut bisque but oh god seriously it is the best) and I'm just curious as to what other people like.

I've eaten two of my crookneck squashes so far! And I picked a giant (ok not so giant, it was like 4 inches... but bigger than the rest) cucumber today. It will be in my chick pea pita tomorrow :DDDD

Jon got me us a food dehydrator! I'm currently drying some peaches we got in Florida, apples, pineapple and banana. And also making some peach apple fruit leather! YAAAAAAAAY. Way more excited than I should be about kitchen appliances.

Also I got some soap supplies... expect to see some smelly herb soaps possibly in the shape of an octopus.

What's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten? Would you eat it again?

Bear. I don't know what type of bear. It was in beef log form. I didn't like it... it was kinda gamy. I won't eat it again because I don't eat meat anymore.

I'm not very adventurous D:

Pasta Salad Improv I

Serves 1

3/4 cup rotini wheat pasta
3-5 dried morel mushrooms (or any other wild dried shroom)
1 garlic clove, chopped
1/2 cup broccoli florets
handful of baby spinach
1/4 tsp of Earth Balance OR 1/2 tsp of oil
2 tbsp Italian salad dressing
shredded or grated carrots

1. Boil the rotini and dried morels in salted water for 10 minutes.
2. Once boiled, strain the noodles and morels, saving a small amount of water in the pot for adding to the veggies. Remove the morels and slice them in half, long ways.
3. Heat skillet to medium-high and add Earth Balance. Add garlic and broccoli. Keep it moving and cook until the broccoli is slightly tender. Add whole baby spinach leaves, morels, and a small amount of the pasta water to the skillet and cook until the spinach is nearly wilted.
4. Add the veggies and pasta to a bowl and mix. Add grated carrots to the top of the mix, then add Italian dressing.

I like to use Earth Balance because I like my broccoli to have a buttery taste when cooked in a skillet. I prefer my veggies to be slightly firm, but if you want to completely cook the broc and spinach then go right ahead. The morels lose some of their flavor when you boil them, but it gets into the pasta pretty good.... yum! This is why I recommend dried and not fresh... plus the fact that I don't know squat about finding wild shroomies. The Italian dressing is what really pulls this together. Some sort of homemade vinaigrette might be really good as well, as long as it has a nice herb-y taste.
